I highly recommend it as an indispensible text which builds the foundation for a thorough understanding of the many statistical tools which have become necessary in conducting economic experimentation. Of course, this was the text assigned for those courses. Since then, I have read other Statistics textbooks, and few, if any, will provide you with a more fundamental understanding of what statistics is and how it works than “Elements of Econometrics”.

No less demanding than the first edition, Kmenta’s updated text remains comprehensive and wonderfully informative. The first was a standard introductory statistics course for economics majors, the second a more advanced class for honors students.

Elements of Econometrics Macmillan series in economics. I have read substantial chunks of Kmenta’s book, but I doubt that I will ever sit down and undertake the daunting task of reading it from start to finish.
The book is not in the good manner. Pearson offers special pricing when you package your text with other student resources. As kmejta afterthought, I was recently gratified when Kmenta gave a very mixed, not particularly flattering review to Angrist and Pische’s Mostly Harmless Econometrics.
As econometrics matured from a collection of clever solutions for specific problems into its own major field of research, econometricians worked to integrate what was known into a systematic whole greater than econojetrics sum of its parts. I have been using this reference in my course and it has been very welcome by the students.

I didn’t work many of the end of chapter questions, so I can’t really speak to their quality, but overall I thought it was a very good book.
